Road trip to Harrogate!
Well the last few days have been a whirlwind. I left Cornwall on Saturday to start the weekend with my lovely friend Jo who owns YAP bridal boutique in Newcastle. Both buzzing at the prospect of looking at some gorgeous new gowns for our boutiques we started as we meant to go on with some cocktails in Newcastle city centre and a lovely meal and then on Sunday we made our way to Harrogate through the snow! Meeting up with our friends from Ireland we all browsed around the huge exhibition centre. It was apparent that lace is very much still on trend in fact it’s everywhere! I have chosen carefully picking some beautiful lace for the bride who loves it, but also made sure we have some gorgeous rich satins, chiffons and designs that have a different feel, diamante halternecks adding glamour, straps, low backs and a full lace sleeve. We really do have everything covered! We have also taken on a new label Oplulence which I’m very excited about. Their dresses incorporate everything our brides are asking for they have a high quality couture feel but without the couture price tag! Well we are mid way through February and I’m pleased to say it’s bright and sunny outside, my planters are in bloom outside the shop and our weddings for February are now in full swing. Well 2013 has started with a bang and I’m pleased to say we have been able to help lots of brides from those with a limited amount of time to their wedding, to girls planning ahead to 2014 and beyond. Most of our 2013 stock is now in with the exception of a couple of dresses and I’m confident we have something for everyone!
If you haven’t yet been to our boutique you will be able to have a taste of what we have at forthcoming wedding Fayres. On the 17th February we will be at The Royal Cornwall Show ground in the Pavilion with Cornish Brides, and then on the 24th March we will be at The WED show being held at The Headland Hotel Newquay. New 2013 collections now in!
January has seen the arrival of nearly all our gorgeous new dresses chosen to grace our rails for 2013. Fitted fishtails, sparkly tulle skirts, straps and lace shoulders all feature this year in our gowns. In order to give you even more choice we are holding two designer days in March and April. 2nd March sees our Romantica designer day where you will be able to see the whole 2013 collection. Equally you will be able to do the same on the 20th April with the Diane Harbridge collection. Diane’s new collection is particularly special tome this year as one of her gorgeous fairy tale dresses has been named after my daughter Benita and now has pride of place in our window! Just as new dresses arrive we are already planning our next buying trip to The British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate in March keeping our gowns new fresh and on trend to give all you brides in Cornwall the best the bridal industry offers.

With snow falling in parts of the country and possibly to reach Cornwall this week our new window display by Elle Inspire Hire fits the bill perfectly! Surrounded by snow and wicker hearts our new light Ivory organza dress Hayden by Romantica twinkles against the white flakes to create the perfect winter window.

Well here we are in 2013 and we have started with a bang! Lots of lovely brides have been browsing our rails and surprisingly lots are getting married in a short space of time! Ideally to have your pick of all our ranges and styles six months is a good amount of time to allow yourself, however do not despair if you have a shorter time scale. Lots of our designers carry stock and we have a ‘buy now’ rail.
To kick start the season our new 2013 collections are arriving and we now have some lovely accessories by Amanda Wyatt to complete your look. So if you are getting married this summer come and see us now!

I’m glad to say for a month that can be traditionally quiet in the bridal world we have been extremely busy! This weekend we launched our new Diane Harbridge collection which was well received by our brides. We enjoyed a lovely party on Friday evening to celebrate highlights of which you can see filmed by Visions uk. We look forward to seeing Diane’s new designs at Harrogate’s British Bridal Exhibition next month. The new 2013 collections by all our designers will grace our shelves from December onwards. So glad to see marriages are still going strong! See our party here..
All colours of the rainbow!
Preparation is now well under way now for the launch of our new Diane Harbridge collection and I can’t wait for the gorgeous new gowns to arrive! In the meantime we will have new gowns from existing collections arriving in the next couple of weeks including Romantica and Ellis. Pictures will go on to the website as soon as we have them.
Summer time brings new dilemma’s often for the other members of the bridal party, desperately searching for shoes and bags that are an exact colour to match outfits. Well another month is here and lots of exciting things to report! This past week has been wonderful seeing so many of our brides get married over the Jubilee weekend it has definitely been our busiest weekend so far, I thought the steaming of dresses was never going to end! I’ve had a lovely break after a hectic May and it’s back to it for me today! My trip to The London bridal show and The White Gallery was fantastic I met up with my lovely friend Jo who runs Y.A.P Bridal in Newcastle and we had a great time meeting up with other bridal shop friends old and new, staying just off Chelsea Bridge close to Battersea Park. I was also able to catch up with both existing stockists and new and see what will be coming through in designs for next season, and so to our exciting news! In August we will be launching a new collection by Diane Harbridge. Diane brings to the industry 25 years of experience which is apparent in her debut collection. The dresses are of fantastic quality with a real hollywood vintage feel and style. Her dresses are a good price point with dresses ranging between £700 and £1300. Details of how to come to a special evening event on friday 24th August and meet Diane will soon be on our facebook page and on the website. In the coming months we will be preparing for the launch weekend and appointments to try her dresses will be available on the 25th and 26th August with great opening offers exclusive to the launch weekend will be available! The merry month of May…
May has been a lovely introduction to what will hopefully soon be summer! New stock in summer colours, outdoor photo shoots, and a trip to London to look at a potential new collection for County Cream. Exciting! New stock arriving is always lovely and we have some gorgeous new designs by Ebony Rose now in the boutique. Short chiffon dresses, in yellows blues and oranges are brightening the rails for bridesmaids and injecting some summer colour. Our first photo shoot was with Cornish Brides magazine and I can’t wait to see the end result! Our second was at the Old Vicarage at Treleigh, a wonderful new location which can now hold civil ceremonies with the couple and guests having the wonderful house all to themselves. Our third featured our bridesmaids dresses in a shoot for the up and coming ‘Win a Wedding’ with Pirate FM. See our photos of the day at Treleigh on Facebook. I am finally getting to grips with twitter and we now have quite a following! Follow us @countycream for regular updates. Our package deals are still proving to be popular starting at £699 for dress veil and shoes! On a not so happy note there was the terrible news about Falmouth Beach Hotel and unfortunately we have brides that have been affected. I hope there weddings can still go ahead as planned and I’m sure we will see the hotel being rebuilt bigger and better in the future. Best wishes and thoughts to all involved. Wedding season!
Well wedding season has really hit with some lovely girls getting married over the last couple of weeks and this weekend we have five weddings! We had a fantastic time at the WED show at Gonwin Manor on Sunday 15th April well done to the team at WED who worked so hard to pull it off! We had an overwhelming response to our clever Twobirds Bridesmaids dresses at the show check them out on our bridesmaid page, so much so the lovely Elle from Inspire Hire has made them the main feature in our window this week. April has also seen the launch of our wedding packages which are already prooving popular. Dress veil and shoes from £699! As we all think ahead to hopefully a sizzling summer we will see new bridesmaids and bridal collections in the boutique from June onwards for us to swoon over. Well what glorious weather! I’ve made the most of it this week and given the outside of the shop a makeover we have some lovely flowers in our planters outside adding some welcome colour. In fact I have decamped outside writing this as we speak while soaking up the rays! With March nearly behind us April is also set to be a busy month, after a few days off over Easter we will then be looking forward to the WED show on the 15th April at Gonwin Manor Carbis Bay. Enjoy the best the County can offer for all your wedding needs while sipping on champers and tucking into canapes! See you there.
We are still seeing lots of Brides getting married this summer unaware of lead times for ordering your dream dress. Most gowns take between 3 and 4 months to arrive once your order has been placed and then they need to be tweeked to perfection by our seamstresses but don’t panic! We can get some gowns quicker but your choice will be more limited don’t miss out on ‘the one’ due to time.
Finally speaking of time it is hard to believe we have been at our new location of Church Walk in Truro for two years in April. If you are a new bride be sure to come and check us out!

From the moment I walked into the shop (on their first day of trading) I was looked after so well. I wasn’t rushed and the process was really enjoyable. Whats new!
Well what a week! Just back from the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate feeling tired but inspired! My lovely hubby picked me up from Exeter airport and even brought me a glass of wine to drink on the journey back down while he patiently listened to non stop boutique talk! Some gorgeous new gowns were on offer from our stockists and they have sucessfully ticked the boxes of what girls are asking for both in style and price. Ellis Bridal have produced a gorgeous fitted fishtail lace dress with a detachable lace jacket which I’m really excited about and should be with us by July. Also some lovely destination gowns from Romantica which will also be with us in time for summer some of which will be under £500! We have also come back buzzing with ideas and some great new deals that are in working progress for all you lovely brides out there. Watch this space! Also looking forward to attending the Westcountry Wedding Awards tomorrow night. And now to tackle the not so nicely mounted pile of paperwork that seems to have appeared from nowhere that I can’t put off any longer! A brew first though I think….

Well Spring is in the air and the sun is shining which puts everyone is a great frame of mind! This weekend sees the start of several March weddings I do hope the sun stays out for them. Following my advice on buying online I have come across a web page which gives brides more advice on the subject check it out http://www.bridesaware.co.uk/ it’s a good read and re enforces the importance of where you choose to buy your gown.
We had a visit this week from the lovely Natalie from Ebony Rose Designs to showcase the Autumn collection some gorgeous bridesmaids dresses will be gracing the boutique in the Summer long, short ,chiffon there is something for everyone! With this in mind we will be having a bridesmaids promotional sale in March to make way for the new stock. Perfect if you don’t have many bridesmaids or indeed for the Prom season.
And finally we are chuffed to now be Rainbow Club’s no 1 stockist in the County for there gorgeous shoe range and we have also made it through to the Westcountry Wedding Awards thank you to all our 2011 brides who voted for us!

Blog update!
Well it’s nearly the end of February what a month! We have seen our 2012 weddings getting off to a start including our bride who organised the whole wedding without the groom knowing he was getting married! I hope they had a wonderful day x We have attended three wedding fayres and have our forth this Sunday at The Esplanade Hotel in Newquay a lovely hotel looking over Pentire. Do come along and say hello. On a not so positive note we are also seeing an increased number of brides who have been disappointed by dresses bought online both new and second hand purchases. Luckily we have been able to get them a great dress to replace the online disasters but at this point they are out of pocket. Girls if you pay £200 for a new dress online that retails for £1000 in one of our shops then it is to good to be true! The dress is more than likely a copy of the dress you have fallen for and not a very good copy! Alternatively if you are buying a second hand dress from a bride which is a genuine designer dress just be sure of the quality and condition and the alterations that have been made to it before you go ahead. Better still visit one of our local bridal shops where you will get a fantastic quality gown great customer service and a great experience. You will with us that’s for sure! Feb news!
Can’t believe we are well into February already! Wedding fayres have dominated February so far, its nice to get out and about with our gorgeous gowns and meet some lovely new brides to be. We’ve taken delivery of some new manakins this week so we can display more gowns. I somehow managed to put them together DIY not being my strong point! We have a big weekend coming up with the Hall for Cornwall Wedding Fayre on Sunday 12th and the boutique will also be open from 11 to 4pm. We will have a great show offer in place so be sure to come up and have a browse! If you see the dress for you be sure to quote Hall for Cornwall to benefit from our great deal! Until next week.
